As a child, I was aware of what it meant to be frugal. My grandmother would patch holes in plastic bread bags so she could use them for months. My sisters and I were encouraged to put money into “the trip fund” instead of buying something superfluous like potato chips. Mom sewed all of our clothes – even underwear – and hand-me-downs were commonplace.

Frugality may very well be hereditary.

My mother-in-law was not a fan of stew. She told me on several occasions that stew is for people who are “too lazy to make soup”. I (respectfully) disagree with her opinion, and believe that stew is more practical for those days when I don’t have time to cut veggies into dainty little pieces to be gracefully slurped along with copious amounts of broth. Give me something thick and hearty. And sooner, rather than later!

What’s the point??? I’m sure the main goal with dieting is to be healthy, but so many of the fad diets seem to ignore nutrition, balance, good health, and common sense.
