Baked Country Style Ribs

Baked Country Style Ribs

There are days when I cannot be in the kitchen — too much work to do, preferring to read a book instead, or making the choice to visit with company outdoors instead of hanging out in the kitchen.

There are basically no limits to how many people you can serve with this – only 3 ingredients: country style ribs, montreal seasoning, and your choice of barbecue sauce. Because country style ribs are so meaty, plan on 1/2 pound per person.

This recipe is from my sister, Ellen. We made it together for a family reunion, and it continues to be my “go to” recipe for busy days, large events, and any time we have a hankering for summertime food with minimal effort.

Since it bakes “low and slow”, you’ve got plenty time to get this ready in advance, and then enjoy the aromas emanating from your kitchen.

Preheat oven to 225 degrees.

Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminium foil, and place ribs with a little space between each. Cover every side generously with montreal seasoning, pressing it into the meat. (This seasoning blend is basically garlic and black pepper, with a few other spices included. I’ve tried making my own, but haven’t gotten the ratios “right”. I end up ordering it in bulk from Azure Standard, which simplifies my life and makes my tongue happy.)

Cover with another sheet of foil, sealing it at the edges. Bake for 2 1/2 hours.

Carefully remove the top piece of foil, avoiding the steam that will try to burn you. 🙂

Serve with your favourite barbecue sauce.
