Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup raw sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2/3 cup dark rum

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, bring the water, butter, sugar, and spices to a boil. Simmer gently for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat, strain through a fine mesh sieve, and stir in the rum. Serve while warm.
  3. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator, and reheat before serving, without allowing it to boil.
