This is the third type of soup I’ve made this week. Can you tell that I LOVE the coolness of autumn, and the opportunity to make more substantial and comforting food? This has a little bit of heat, but is surprisingly simple and quick to make.

Poultry Seasoning Blend
I love making seasoning blends from scratch – curry powder, taco seasoning, you name it. Maybe it’s a control issue, a little defiance against over-priced packaging from the store, or the fact that I don’t plan far enough in advance to know every ingredient for my menu. Either way, custom-mixed seasoning blends are the way to go.
Creamy Cauliflower and Smoked Pork Chop Soup with Garlic-Infused Olive Oil
I found a new obsession — smoked pork chops! Seriously! Whoever thought of smoking pork chops? Brilliant!!!

Pressure Cooker Asian Beef & Broccoli
I grew up eating “Chinese take-out” almost every Sunday after church. We picked up chow mein with extra rice packed in little white boxes and brought it to my grandparent’s house in Minneapolis. Life in the 1970’s meant it probably wasn’t very authentic Asian food, but it was tradition. And we loved it.
Annas Linssoppa – Anna’s Red Lentil Soup
Best friends are like stars — even though you don’t always see them (or live on the same continent!), you know they are always there. Such friends make life wonderful because they are reliable, trustworthy, faithful, and FUN.
Summer Basil Marinated Chicken Thighs
I haven’t had time to plant a garden yet, but my front patio is full of pots of herbs – parsley, thyme, cilantro, sage, and basil. Lots and lots of basil. Just rubbing my hand over the basil releases an aroma that makes me so happy.
Peking Chicken
Did you know that a Pekin chicken is a short, Chinese Bantam with a ridiculous amount of feathers all the way down their legs and covering their feet? That’s what I learned when accidentally misspelling Peking Chicken. I guess you’re never too old to learn!!!
Garlic Scape Hummus Chicken
I don’t like surprises. At least most of the time. Practical jokes, pranks, surprise parties – not my deal. But this dish was a very, VERY pleasant surprise. Chicken and garlic are always a good idea, but this brought the basics to an off-the-charts level.
Garlic Scape Hummus
Close your eyes. Imagine this: your grandmother sitting on the front porch with a towel across her lap, snapping a huge bowl of beans. Now, picture me on my front porch – taller than your grandma and NOT wearing a pink polyester pantsuit – skinning a large bowl of chickpeas. True story!
Salmon and Garlic Scape Omelette
“Dirt Therapy”. What does that mean to you? For my mother it means unleashing jokes about dust accumulating on the furniture, but for my friend Donna – The Novice Farmer – dirt therapy may be a survival tactic.
