My mother was an elementary school teacher – back in the days when the ABC’s were more important than teaching political correctness. Her mother was also a teacher – before college degrees were required for educators.
I love colour. In fact, one of the things I love doing is thumbing through paint company fan-decks. Once I get past the bizarre, yet creative names, I get lost in shades of green, blue, and even white.
“Kristina i Köket” (Kristina in the Kitchen) would be a great title for a television show! At least for the next week or so, as I visit my daughter who lives and works in the Stockholm Archipelago. She is an amazing, creative, instinctive, adventurous cook!
This has been “one of those weeks”. Too much going on. Not enough getting done. Too little energy. Not nearly enough sleep. And no groceries in the refrigerator because I don’t have time to shop. Am I alone in this situation???
Since high school days, one of my favourite places to visit is Stillwater, MN. As teens we would sit alongside the river and people watch. In my 20’s, I would scour the plentiful antique shops and people watch. As an adult, I enjoy the fantastic restaurants, car shows, and boutiques — and people watch.
I once saw a list of different uses for mayonnaise that included getting gum out of hair, conditioning hair, removing bumper stickers, relieving sunburn, and preventing hangnails. Hmmm. Let’s move on to more delcious uses of mayo!!!
Today has been “one of those days”. I was too busy (also known as “too distracted”) to think about making supper, and when my tummy began rumbling, the last thing I wanted to do was COOK.
Different cultures celebrate New Year’s Day on different dates – anywhere from January to October. BUT — why not celebrate a new every day? If you use nice dishes, light a candle, and share a meal with someone you love, every day is a holiday.
